Service Learning Blog Post for Week of June 17

  1. 12 Jun 2010-- 3 hours doing the following: downloading and using CutePDF; reading coding on animalplanet.com for download PDF form in Microsoft Word; Uploading AIR (an Adobe program update for creating PDF document) to computer; and reading Google webmaster tool web site pages.

    15 Jun 2010--2.5 hours spend typing end user information for the Animalsafe Website on how to modify the web site.

    15 Jun 2010--3.0 hours--I did the following: Reading information and watching informational videos about the new 2010Microsoft Office Suite; Uninstalled Office 2007 from computer; Installed Office 2010 program; and talked to Jason about C+ (a programming language), HTML (hypertext markup language—a common language used to create web sites), and possible consultation work with Animal Safehouse for future web site upgrades.

    16 Jun 2010—2.25 hours spent typing more Animal Safehouse user information
    16 Jun 2010—2.0 hours utilized for the following: learning about Windows 7 snippet tool; creating and uploading Animal Safehouse flyer PDF to the Animal Safehouse web site; and notifying Abigail and Dr. Santana about the domain name expiration notice.

    17 Jun 2010—2.5 hours spent typing more Animal Safehouse user information.

    June 13- 4 hours spent tabeling with Abigail, Alla and Deandra at the Publix on Central for Animal Safehouse
    June 16 -Spend 1 hour driving and supply buying and 6 hours making berets for Animal Safehouse with Alla.

  3. I am calling the Publix near me and speaking to them about tabling. Also I am going to ask people, who I know love animals, if they would adopt two cats. Hopefully raise a lot of money for the ANIMALS.

    6/3- 3 hours
    3 Hours looking for a home for a lab puppy. I have some friends speaking with their roommates if they have time for a dog.

    2 1/2 Hours tabling at publix downtown. While I was there $11 were raised. Diandra and I walked around eola giving out flyers.
    6/12- 5 ½ hours
    Michaela and I spent 6 hours making barrettes, with feathers. I burnt myself with the hot glue gun but the barrettes are going to be a hit. I can’t wait to sell them.
    6/16- 6 hours
    Michaela, Diandra, and I are going to make more things for AnimalSafehouse this weekend. Now we think we are going to make headbands.

  4. I will be completing my remaining hour next week screen printing shirts for YWLP. I missed the Transgender meeting because I had personal obligations I needed to attend to. Thus, in all honesty, this week was a bypass week.

  5. I completed my hours by making arts and crafts for Animal Safehouse to sell while they are tabling. We made ribbons that can be pinned to shirts. One of the ribbons have small paw prints and the others say "I love my puppy". I also have been working hard to try and find a permanent home for the two adult sister cats.
